SHACKERSTONE BOAT RALLY (GATHERING OF BOATS) 2004

The Ashby Boat Company were pleased to be part of the Shackerstone Family Festival 2004.
In particular the gathering of boats to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the opening of the completed Ashby Canal.
Although I was there taking these photographs, I did not count how many boats were present, but there were a lot, several hundred would not be an exaggeration, and the weather was very kind, almost too kind.
The day boats Mole and Heron were there to provide trips along the canal, and were continually in demand, and a good day was had by all, below are a few pictures of the event.
Unfortunately the Ashby Boat Company are no longer able to be present at the Shackerstone Festivals due to our normal business commitments.
But we were pleased to be present for the two hundredth anniversary of the Ashby Canal allowing the general public a brief taste of canal cruising.
We understand that the "Ashby Trip" of Sutton Cheney Wharf will be providing boats offering similar canal trips at subsequent festivals.
