One of the locks in the Atherstone FlightTHE WARWICKSHIRE RING
The information provided on this page will be related to sights and scenes that can be accessed while cruising the Warwickshire Ring canal network.
If you wish your holiday to be more a voyage of discovery as you pass along the canal, perhaps this page is not for you.
Maybe you just wish to experience the relaxed experience of prolonged, gentle, canal boat cruising. But for those of you who wish a more planned holiday that will take full advantage of what lies within easy access of this inland waterway, this page may help.
This cruise is a fairly energetic circular route of 125 miles and 100 locks requiring 9.5 hours cruising on each day of a one weeks holiday, and is only recommended for crews with four active members.
During early Spring and late Autumn when daylight hours are reduced this is a route better undertaken over a 10 or 11 day hire period.
Negotiating the Atherstone Flight on the Coventry Canal, part of the Warwickshire Ring. The Warwickshire Ring takes you through very beautiful countryside with a glimpse into the canals industrial past.
This boating circuit is one of the more popular routes for our hirers. A recent television series focused on the many delights and interesting historical landmarks to be found on the heart of England’s canals. The castle town of Warwick with all its antiquated beauty as well as the Victorian shopping extravaganza of Leamington Spa are to the south of the ring.
Further north are the canal areas of Birmingham, and Gas Street Basin, that have achieved awards for their thoughtful restoration and development.
You then slip back into quiet countryside for the relaxing homeward journey.
Below are a number of images that will provide a flavour of what can be experienced  whilst undertaking this favoured narrowboat holiday cruise.
