The large double locks of the Grand Union as you leave Braunston on the way to Stoke Bruerne.THE GRAND UNION TO STOKE BRUERNE
The information provided on this page will be related to sights and scenes that can be accessed while cruising the Grand Union canal to Stoke Bruerne.
If you wish your holiday to be more a voyage of discovery as you pass along the canal, perhaps this page is not for you.
Maybe you just wish to experience the relaxed experience of prolonged, gentle, canal boat cruising.
But for those of you who wish a more planned holiday that will take full advantage of what lies within easy access of this inland waterway this page may help.

With this route you will meander south past Hawkesbury, Brinklow and Rugby, join the mighty Grand Union Canal with its wide locks and twisting tunnel at Braunston. Outward through Long Buckby to the almost 2 mile tunnel at Blisworth where you escape underground for 30 minutes (but not to worry, you can pass in the tunnels as they are 16 feet wide). Finally immerse yourself in waterways history at the enjoyable Stoke Bruerne Museum.
This route takes 48 hours of actual cruising and there is 17 locks to work in each direction.
