DAY BOAT / SHORT BREAK HOLIDAY HIRE - HERON & MOLE

Heron and Mole are two of the best equipped and most comfortable canal boats available for daily hire. It is also possible to hire them for short breaks on a pro rata pricing. The Ashby Canal is lock free passing through beautiful rural landscapes, and in places having the look of a slow meandering natural river. Stoke Golding a sleepy village in Warwickshire is the start of the days hire, which is 7½ hrs between 9.30am 5pm or 10am 5.30pm. A "steerer" for the day can be provided at a cost of £50:00, by arrangement at the time of booking.

BOAT FEATURES & INFORMATION Gas cooker with grill, oven and two hobs. Electric fridge, flush toilet and shower. Stainless steel sink with hot and cold water. Pots and pans, cutlery and crockery for up to twelve people. Solid fuel wood/coal burning stove for very cosy all year cruising. Buoyancy aids provided free of charge when needed. Car parking is free. No experience is necessary as a show round and boat handling tuition is given. Bedding can be provided for 1 to 4 people for overnight hire, or a mini break canal holiday. Mini break prices on Mole and Heron are charged at the 5-12 person rate, multiplied by the number of days hire.

Extra hours or late return will be charged at £10.00 per hour. To remind you, Mole and Heron can be taken out for short breaks, prices are charged at the daily 6- 12 persons rate multiplied by the  number of days taken. Bedding is provided for up to 4 people.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE   A maximum of 12 people are legally allowed on a hired day boat. Reserve your canal day boat early by telephoning to avoid disappointment. A £50.00 deposit is required to make a firm booking. (Cheques made payable to Ashby Boat Company Limited).  On the day the balance of the hire charge is to be paid, plus a £100:00 refundable damage deposit in cash.  On return the £100:00 will then be refunded provided the boat is returned on time and without any breakages.

DAYBOATS HERON AND MOLE FOR SHORT BREAKS ON A PRO-RATA DAYBOAT PRICE AS SHOWN BELOW

Heron and Mole can both be booked for short breaks, at any time of the year on a pro rata pricing basis, with a 1 to 4 person rate applying during the Winter months, i.e. October to March inclusive.
During the Summer months the 5 to 12 person rate will apply.

Heron is capable of one double berth and two single berths for small children, Mole the slightly smaller boat is most suited to providing one double berth.
The boat shown below is Heron, the boat Mole is a shorter boat and does not have the seating arrangement at the rear of the boat, but the saloon and forward seating is slightly longer than the boat Heron.

The views above will apply to both Heron and Mole, there being very little difference in the size of the saloon/galley, the shower and the toilet on both boats.
With the solid fuel stoves, for which fuel is provide, you will not be cold on either of these boats while the fire is kept in.

Above are views to the rear of Heron, the slightly larger boat, and this area can be used to provide single berths for small children, keeping the gangway, or a double berth across the boat, utilising the gangway space.

The shower and toilet on both Heron and Mole are very similar, almost the same. May we point out that these facilities are quiet compact and may not be suitable for all potential hirers.
