FITTING THE BULKHEADS (CABIN WALLS)

Carlton was delivered with the hull already primed and the bottom blacked.

This stage is where the inside of the boat starts to look like what you expect of the inside of a narrowboat.

It is also the point in the construction where obtaining comprehensive photographs of the internal fitting becomes more difficult
To obtain the pictures to show the detail you would like to show, you would have to take the opposite side of the boat off to achieve a suitable position to take the photograph.
This being impossible I will do my best.

As you can see the bulkheads (cabin walls to me) have been placed, but not yet fully fixed.
Should any minor adjustment be needed it is still possible at this stage.

You can see there is a compartment between the bathroom and the saloon area.
This will contain the central heating boiler and provide storage for clothing, shoes, etc..
The image above and the one to the left show the walls of the bathroom.
The bulkeads are 18mm. formica faced plywood of a high quality.
In this case a pale green has been chosen.
This is the bulkhead to the saloon, looking to the front of the boat from the back.

Things are moving on quickly and the galley is already being fitted.
In this case conventional carcasses are being used, but, which have projecting sides at the rear of the units.
The projecting sides are shaped to the contour of the already fixed cladding on the side of the hull.
The "projections" can be seen on the upturned unit being worked on, to the left hand side as you look at the image
.
This image shows to "half" bulkheads at the rear of the boat to create storage space as well as space to install control panels and fuse boxes, etc..
