CANAL CRUISING IN THE SPRING
Spring is now with us and the weather conditions are improving.
Couple this with the increase in day length and Spring is an excellent time of the year to take that canal cruise holiday or short break.
It allows you to view and experience the beauty of the countryside awakening from the winter whilst always having warm and fully fitted accommodation close at hand.
All our narrowboats having full central heating, with the exception of the boat Badger that has a free standing solid fuel stove.

If you truly want that short break or longer canal holiday away from it all, with perhaps the exception of a visit to the local village pub for the occasional "vimto", then may we suggest that you consider hiring one of our narrowboats during the Spring and early Summer period.
A few boats remain available for the Spring Bank Holiday period, however if you are able to avoid the more popular times of the year the cost of your boat hire will be reduced.

EMAIL / CONTACT NOTE:- If you do not receive an email reply from us within 24 hours (36 hours at the weekend), may we remind you that you are able to reach us on the telephone at 01455 212671 during boatyard hours, which are, 8:00am. to 5:00pm. Monday to Saturday, and 9:00am. to 1:00pm on Sundays.

THE ASHBY CANAL
A group out on the Ashby Canal in early summer, with all the trees newly in leaf. The Ashby Canal is an unspoilt and lock-free rural canal winding its way through picturesque countryside, north past the Battle of Bosworth Field to Snarestone.
Travel south to Marston Junction, and the Coventry Canal, and you are able to join the Oxford and Grand Union canals and a wide choice of canal and waterways cruising.
It is possible to visit Rugby, Braunston, Warwick and Leamington to the south, and Tamworth, Great Heywood, Stoke on Trent and Birmingham to the north.

The Ashby Canal is ideal for your first canal narrow boat experience, or for the more "relaxed" holidaymaker.
But for the more energetic, the "Ashby" is a good starting point for such trips as the Warwickshire Ring, or the Leicestershire Loop.

The centre of Stoke Golding from the direction of Hinckley, showing the George and Dragon, but the the Three Horseshoes, and the White Swan are close by.STOKE GOLDING
Stoke Golding is a picturesque village situated in the heart of the English countryside but with excellent access by both road and rail.
Collection from Nuneaton railway station can be provided subject to prior arrangement.
Stoke Golding has a 13th Century church, three pubs, a post office and a grocery shop.
Just two miles away is a large supermarket.
Whether you are returning year after year to the canals and waterways of England, or are less experienced, we promise you a friendly and helpful service.
We welcome many newcomers to our narrowboats each year, and we take pride in passing on all the necessary tuition you could possibly need for that first canal boat holiday experience.

HIRERS RECEIVING INSTRUCTION PRIOR TO SETTING OFF ON HOLIDAY
Advice on steering the boat being given by a member of the Ashby Boat Company team. A member of staff providing a "run through" of simple items that need to be ckecked at the beginning of each day.
New boat "crews"  receiving instruction prior to leaving on their canal boat holiday.
A member of the Ashby Boat Company team will instruct them on the few but necessary technical aspects of the narrowboat to ensure that they have a carefree and enjoyable narrowboat holiday and canal cruising experience.
And, a few tips on competent steering is always a good idea.
Comprehensive manuals on the working of the boats are provided so that you do not have to remember everthing all at once.
A "crew" receiving steering instruction at the narrowboat tiller for some time before the instructor steps off the boat at the next bridge and the holiday begins.
Family group enjoying their holiday relaxing aboard their canal narrowboat ENJOYING THE HOLIDAY
A family group enjoying their waterways holiday relaxing aboard their canal narrowboat.
If a local hostelry is not available you have all the convenience of a fully fitted galley to prepare a meal of your own choosing.
Look out the window, or sit on the canal bank and the English countryside can be your restaurant.
If you have decided to undertake some serious canal cruising on your holiday, meals can be prepared and eaten while you are on the move if you have a big enough crew.
Narrowboat holidays need to be experienced to be fully appreciated, and can be cruised in the manner you most enjoy.

Braunston Junction, you decide which way you want to cruise.WEBSITE SURVEY RESULTS
In a compilation of approximately one hundred narrowboat hire companies, that have websites, undertaken by the popular boating publication "Canals & Rivers" in April 2006, this website was one of the six featured sites in the magazine article "Web Hire".
We particularly like what they said about us,
"Although classical in its' design this website is relatively plain. No whistles and bells.
Never the less it reveals a considerable amount of information about each of its' 16 boats.
It contains plenty of extremely informative images that illustrate each boat thoroughly."

We would say that this is a fair appraisal of our website, as that is what we set out to achieve, we maintain our own website, hence the
"relatively plain", so it is nice to get a mention in a survey such as this.
For 2008 we have further increased the number of images of the interiors of our boats for you to study, so that you will have a fair understanding of the facilities of the boat that you will actually be hiring.
Our business is hiring excellent narrowboats to suit all requirements so that you may have an enjoyable canal boat holiday, short break, or just a day out on the canal, so please browse our website, as we wish you to see what we are able to offer on all our boats
