LATE AVAILABILITY - SPECIAL OFFER PRICES
We have two boats available for hire beginning this coming weekend.

The first is a weekend short break on the 4 to 6 berth boat WILLOUGHBY from Friday the 30th. of July 2010 to Monday the 2nd. of August 2010 at the price of £600:00 plus the cost of diesel used whilst cruising.

The second boat is the smaller 2 berth boat SHENTON which is available for a weeks hire from Saturday the 31st. of July 2010 to Saturday the 7th. of August 2010 at the price of £600:00 plus the cost of diesel used whilst cruising.

2010 CANAL HOLIDAY BROCHURE, AND PRICES
Copies of our 2010 brochure are now available and will be sent out to existing customers, and those who have recently provided us with their address details, in the next few weeks.
The brochure has been increased in size to 36 pages, and hopefully now covers all aspects of narrowboat hire that you wish information about.
It also includes added information on the Ashby Canal and its surrounding attractions that are within walking distance of the canal.
The brochure is in a self contained, A5 landscape format for handy browsing.

CANAL NARROWBOAT HIRE - NO INCREASES IN PRICING FOR 2010
The Ashby Boat Company is pleased to announce that there will be no increases in boat hire prices for the 2010 season and indeed some weekly boat hire periods on some boats will be decreased, in response to observed hire patterns.
NOTE, these reductions are mainly on two berth boats during the Summer period, and are on weekly hire periods only, short break hire will not receive this discount, and longer hire periods already receive reductions on the second and subsequent weeks.

SUMMER CANAL HOLIDAYS AND SHORT BREAKS CRUISING THE CANALS
It appears that Summer has at last arrived in some style, let us hope that it will continue throughout the Summer period, it has every indication of doing so.

The Ashby Boat Company has a limited selection of narrowboats available for short break and weekly hire for some periods during the Summer, including some large family boats.

We do have a number of two and four berth boats available during the peak Summer holiday periods which are very competitively priced.
We know that these boats will book up quickly as the main holiday period approaches, so if you wish to have a choice of available boats, and price options, may I suggest that you contact the boatyard as soon as you are able.

For those chilly nights that we may still experience all our boats have gas central heating systems, so you will always be warm and cosy in the evenings.

A relaxing holiday, or short break, on the rural canals of Central England really is a very pleasant experience, let the Ashby Boat Company advise you on the trip that will suit you, even if you are a first time boater.

THE ASHBY CANAL
The Ashby Canal is an unspoilt and lock-free rural canal winding its way through picturesque countryside. Travel north past the Battle of Bosworth Field to Snarestone, or south to Marston Junction, and the Coventry Canal, from where you are able to join the Oxford and Grand Union canals with a wide choice of canal and waterways cruising.

To the south it is possible to visit Rugby, Braunston, Warwick and Leamington, and to the north Tamworth, Great Heywood, Stoke on Trent and Birmingham.

The Ashby Canal is ideal for your first canal narrow boat experience, or for the more "relaxed" holidaymaker.
However for the more energetic, the "Ashby" is a good starting point for such trips as the Warwickshire Ring, or the Leicestershire Loop.

Early morning and the boat Golding moored up on "Stoke Bend" with the the village of Stoke Golding and the parish church seen in the background. "Stoke Bend" is a popular mooring point to access the amenities of the village, i.e. three public houses, a village shop, and a post office.

QUALITY IN TOURISM" ASSESSMENT RATING
Our narrowboats underwent our annual inspection for the "Quality in Tourism" ratings in March 2009.
The fourteen narrowboats were assessed during a two day visit by the assessor.
We are proud to announce that eleven of the fourteen boats put forward for assessment achieved a four star rating, full details of the assessment of our boats can be accessed by clicking on the "Quality in Tourism" logo.

STOKE GOLDING
Stoke Golding is a picturesque village situated in the heart of the English countryside but with excellent access by both road and rail.
Collection from Nuneaton railway station can be provided subject to prior arrangement.
Stoke Golding has a 13th Century church, three good pubs of different character, a post office and a grocery store.
For a larger "shop" prior to your holiday there is a Morrisons supermarket just two miles from the boatyard.

Whether you are returning year after year to the canals and waterways of England, or are less experienced, we promise you a friendly and helpful service.
We welcome many newcomers to our narrowboats each year, and we take pride in passing on all the necessary tuition you could possibly need for that first canal boat holiday experience.

HIRERS RECEIVING INSTRUCTION PRIOR TO SETTING OFF ON HOLIDAY

New boat "crews" receiving instruction prior to leaving on their canal boat holiday. A member of the Ashby Boat Company team will instruct them on the few but necessary technical aspects of the narrowboat to ensure that they have a carefree and enjoyable narrowboat holiday and canal cruising experience. And, a few tips on competent steering is always a good idea. Comprehensive manuals on the working of the boats are provided so that you do not have to remember everthing all at once.

If a local hostelry is not available you have all the convenience of a fully fitted galley to prepare a meal of your own choosing. Look out the window, or sit on the canal bank and the English countryside can be your restaurant. If you have decided to undertake some serious canal cruising on your holiday, meals can be prepared and eaten while you are on the move if you have a big enough crew. Narrowboat holidays need to be experienced to be fully appreciated, and can be cruised in the manner you most enjoy.

AN ITEM FOR HIRERS WHO HAVE A GLUTEN INTOLERANCE We are please to inform our hirers, and potential hirers, that over the past Winter there has been established in the village of Stoke Golding an "online" company that supplies a comprehensive range of foods, snacks and beers that are gluten free. Should any hirer with a gluten intolerance wish to place an order with this company we can arrange delivery to the boatyard ready for your departure. This arrangement must be made known to www.gluten-freeshop.co.uk or ourselves at the time of the order, so that the delivery cost can be waived. At this time this new business trades only "on line", so a pre order is essential to take advantage of this facility.
